Your Expected Family Contribution (EFC) is perhaps the most important aspect of your FAFSA application. It is what schools use to determine how much financial aid your student receives. Because of this, it is critical that this number be as accurate as possible to avoid paying more tuition than is necessary.
The Expected Family Contribution takes the following factors into consideration:
- The family's taxed income from two years prior
- The family's untaxed income from two years prior
- The family's assets
- The family's benefits
- Family size
- Other family members who will be attending college during the academic year for which you are applying
At Ducerus, Inc., we work with your family to ensure the information you provide for the EFC does not misrepresent your family’s financial capabilities.
